In June, Phill Grove launched the Assignment of Mortgage Payments System (AMPS) as an upgrade to the original product, the Mortgage Assignments Profits System (MAPS). Why the change?
Assignment of Mortgage Payments System | Background of the program
We started developing the MAPS strategies right after the market corrected itself in 2009. I taught my first group of students in Texas, which at the time was only 75 people, how to perform this strategy that we then called the Mortgage Payments Assignment Process. Well, MPAP isn’t much of an acronym, so we renamed the program the Mortgage Assignment Profits System, or MAPS. It was a much cleaner acronym but there were a few problems with the name.

First, we later realized that Keller Williams had a real estate product that they called ‘MAPS’ as well and they didn’t like us having a product by the same name. Second, as rocks were turned over and more and more of the illegal actions by the banks came scattering to light like cockroaches, a common term for their missteps was ‘mortgage assignments’. Well, we didn’t really want to have our program branded with a name that is synonymous with illegal activities. Thirdly, and most importantly, based on our students’ feedback, we made some major improvements to our product that would knock down some of the major barriers to doing deals.

As we started teaching more and more people across the country these strategies, the most common feedback from our students about the MAPS program was that they needed help with marketing and they needed help with the paperwork, meaning they wanted contracts that worked in their given states as well as a legal network.
